Youtube Hunting Videos – Get More Views

Youtube Hunting Videos – Get More Views – If you are a hunter with a Youtube Hunting Channel, I want to pass on a few things I have learned over the last year trying to make my Youtube channel, The Old Deer Hunters, more successful.

If you do not know, Youtube is not to fond of hunting and shooting videos when it comes to monetization. Just because you are able to get 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time to qualify for monetization, Youtube’s restrictions on running ads on your videos in many cases reduces the money earned on your videos to a fraction of revenue earned on other types of videos.

Be sure you understand the Youtube community standards. The standards sometimes make little sense to us hunters. Why would an hunter think that a video about a new rifle scope would likely be against their community standards? I don’t know, but one if my videos about a rifle scope that was not even attached onto a rifle did not meet standards and had ads restricted.

Restricted ads means you make little to nothing on a video with thousands of views. Youtube decides what ads to run on your video. It is not based on a company paying for ads makes the decision. Actually it is a computer, not a person. That is why you can have two very similar videos and only one of them is against community standards.

One of my most popular videos in 2023 was restricted, so with 78,000 views I made $9 total to date. Videos that were monetized only received $1-3 per thousand views. That is one of the lowest CPM rates you will find on Youtube.

Cost per 1,000 impressions (CPM)

Cost per 1,000 impressions (CPM) is a metric that represents how much money advertisers are spending to show ads on YouTube. You’ll see a few different CPM metrics in YouTube Analytics:

CPM refers to the cost that advertisers require paying to the YouTube creators for every 1000 views or impressions the ad will receive on the YouTube channel.

YouTube pays around 50-55% of the ad money to content creators. However, it requires the creators to abide by the rules. Community standards are the rules and if you are a creator of hunting and shooting videos you are already behind the power curve.

The content creators require paying attention to CPM as it strongly shows the topics that are mostly chosen by advertisers and the topics which are most valuable to them. So when you choose topics like shooting, thermal optics or suppressors, advertiser shy away from running ads.

The Old Deer Hunters On Youtube

But, you may be like me and say “Damn the Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead!” I’ll get sponsors or just fund everything myself. If you have a good video that people like, Youtube will recommend it and you will get thousand of views, but little if any money.

To make money on Youtube when the CPM rate is low, you will have to get sponsors. Sponsors will pay you for talking about their products and showing how we the product works, or just using their products while making videos. It works just like television advertising you have been watching for years.

Views After You Get Sponsors

In addition to making an interesting video, here are a few things you can do to get more people to click and watch the video. No one will see your video until they make that click. Contrary to popular belief, search engines like Google will not be what gets you most of your views. Most of your views will come from Youtube recommending your video to people who like to watch videos similar to yours. If you watch a lot of Youtube videos about Trophy Bucks, it will send you more videos about Trophy Bucks.

There are two things that lead to the click.

  1. An Eye Catching Thumbnail
  2. An Interesting Title That Triggers Emotion.

So if you make a Trophy Buck video, the Thumbnail must instantly capture the interest of the Trophy Buck Hunter, and the Title must trigger an emotion like excitement a fraction of a second later that will not let him pass by the opportunity to click on your video.

So to get more clicks on your YouTube videos, consider the following strategies:

  1. Use eye-catching thumbnails: Your video thumbnails are the first thing people see when they find your videos in search results or on your channel. Make sure your thumbnails are eye-catching and accurately reflect the content of your videos. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO GET CLICKS.
  2. Optimize your video titles and descriptions: Your video titles and descriptions should be descriptive and eye-catching. They should accurately reflect what your video is about and encourage people to click and watch.
  3. Use keywords in your video titles and descriptions along with emotional twist. This not only can help your video appear in search results but trigger an emotional response or curiosity. Trophy Bucks – Your Are Doing It Wrong! or Top 5 Places for Trophy Bucks.
  4. Promote your videos on social media: Share your videos on your social media groups that are dedicated to your video topic, not to your family and non hunting friends. This can help you reach a the key audience who watches videos like yours.
  5. Collaborate with other YouTubers: Collaborating with other YouTubers can help you reach a new audience and increase the visibility of your videos. Consider guest appearing in someone else’s video or hosting a guest on your channel.
  6. Engage with your audience: Encourage your audience to engage with your videos by asking questions, encouraging comments, and responding to comments. This can help you build a loyal following and encourage people to watch your videos.
  7. Create consistent content: Creating consistent content and uploading videos regularly can help you build a following and keep your audience engaged. Consider creating a schedule for your videos and sticking to it.
  8. Promote your videos in video-related communities: Find video-related communities and hunting forums, and share your videos with these communities. This can help you reach a new audience and increase the visibility of your videos.
  9. Analyze your data: Use the data available in your YouTube analytics to understand what is working and what is not. This can help you make informed decisions about what type of content to create and how to optimize your videos for more clicks.

By implementing these strategies, you can increase the visibility of your videos, reach a wider audience, and get more clicks on your YouTube videos. Good luck!
