This Polaris Ranger 570 Midsize UTV Review & Upgrades is brought to you by The Old Deer Hunters – This is my sage green base model Polaris Ranger 570 midsize. I want to take the time to tell you the things I like and things I wish Polaris would work on to make it a little better.
First, it is a very versatile and reliable vehicle that is perfect for hunting and utility needs. I have had my 2021 model year Ranger 570 Midsize for two years, and it is still going strong. The smaller 570 Midsize may not carry as much as the full size Ranger, but it is easier to transport, handles better in the woods and tight trails. Four seat crew models are also available.
I have had ZERO problems with this great little rig. I have used it for deer hunting, planting food plots, moving and filling feeders, recovering deer and hogs, coyote hunting and and just having fun riding the trails.
Moving from a Polaris Sportsman 500 to a Ranger 570 Midsize is a great jump in capability and comfort. I can not over-emphasize the upgrade in comfort, especially when doing a full day’s work on food plots or farm work. It is the smoothest riding UTV I have ever used because of the best-in-class suspension travel system.
Ranger 570 Midsize Engine
The Polaris Ranger 570 midsize comes equipped with a 567cc ProStar engine that delivers 44 horsepower. This engine provides enough power to handle everything I have wanted to do. Most of my area is dry, so I have not used it in swampy terrain. We do have some steep hills and it handles them with no problems. Granted, if you load it down with a bed full of wood or bags of corn and a couple of 200lb men, you will notice the pull on the engine and suspension.
It has smooth acceleration and impressive torque. For normal operation with hunting gear and a couple of people, the Ranger 570 midsize can easily handle the load without bogging down. We have a 4ft wide disk plow for food plots and I could hardly feel the plow when tilling the plots.
All-Wheel Drive Ranger 570
The Ranger 570 midsize comes with Polaris’ True On-Demand all-wheel-drive system, which automatically engages when the vehicle senses a loss of traction. It worked nicely when I used it to til food plots and kicked in when to keep the 25-inch tires from spinning in sandy areas and rough terrain.
The all-wheel drive helps you navigating through slick terrain and steep inclines without worrying about wheel spin or getting stuck. The all-wheel drive system ensures that you have the traction you need to handle any challenge that comes your way.
There is a toggle switch on the dash that lets you select two-wheel drive, all-wheel drive or turf mode. The turf mode unlocks the rear differential for driving on pavement or prevent ripping up the grass when driving in your yard.
It is easy to transport too. I have a 12ft single axle trailer and it works like a champ with my 570 Midsize. Lets take a ride.
Polaris Ranger 570 Midsize UTV Upgrades – New Accessories
One of the best things I like about the Polaris Ranger is that you can buy it bare bones or decked out to the max right from the dealer. Plus, there is an unlimited number of aftermarket accessories for Polaris Rangers. When I purchased my Ranger 570, COVID had wrecked the Polaris supply chain. I was lucky to get a bare bones 570 Midsize. The dealer had very few accessories on hand. Hunting season was close and I was happy to get it just as it was. I was out the door for a tad over $10K.
Here are some of the accessories and upgrades I added to the Ranger 570 Midsize. Keep in mind that some of these accessories are specific to the Midsize and some are not.
I have added a folding windshield, rear window, winch, rear bumper, splash guards, a hitch rack and a Silent Rider muffler to make our Ranger 570 Midsize even more capable. Customization options are almost endless.
For colder weather, you can also add doors for a completely enclosed cab. Easy-to-install lift kits are available if you need an additional extra inch of clearance for heavy loads.
Things I Wish Polaris Would Improve
The battery is the only thing I have upgraded. The factory battery was small but the battery compartment is made for a larger battery. I upgraded the battery to a larger maintenance-free battery. Polaris really needs to upgrade the battery for the 570 Midsize.
The second thing I wish Polaris would do is improve the gear shifter. Trying to get it into reverse is a bit of hit and miss situation. After a while, you get used to it. It works but it could be much better.

One of my favorite accessories for Polaris Ranger 570 Midsize UTV Review & Upgrades is the Seizmik Folding Windshield. It was easy to install and has performed well for over 2 years. This was a must for me since I use thermal scanners for hunting and the glass must be folded down for thermals optic use. It is very easy to raise or lower from inside the cab. No rattling or flopping around during driving or transport on open trailer.

Champion 4000-lb Winch
The Champion winch works very well and has all the power you need for the Ranger 570 Midsize. Very easy to install. Wires and terminals color coded for easy installation. It is a little hard to pull the cable out during free spooling but it is very well made and has never failed me. Of all the Polaris Ranger 570 Midsize UTV Review & Upgrades I did, the winch was most challenging but very doable if you choose the right winch. The Champion installs easily.

Hitch Rack For Polaris Rangers
I also picked up a hitch rack for additional space and for moving big game animals. It is much easier to carry deer or hogs in the rack than try to lift them into the bed. It also comes in hand moving large 55 gallon feeders, saves room in the cargo box, and it keeps the bed cleaner.

Planting food plots is an essential part of hunting, especially for those who want to increase the chances of attracting wildlife and improving their hunting experience. One of the best ways to prepare your land for planting is by using a Polaris Ranger 570 midsize. Last year, I used it for planting about 7 acres of food plots. We normally have a tractor with farm implements to do the tilling and planting, but when the we found out the tractor would not be available , it was the Ranger to the rescue.
I got the job done and not only that, is was much easier and much more comfortable than working plots with an ATV. It works hard but does not beat you up in the process.
Preparing the land
Before planting a food plot, it’s important to prepare the land properly. This involves removing any debris or vegetation, tilling the soil, and adding necessary amendments like lime or fertilizer. With a Polaris Ranger 570 midsize, you can easily haul, plow or plant to prepare the soil efficiently. Tight corners are still a little more of a challenge than with an ATV.
Spreading seed and fertilizer
This year we upgraded our seed and fertilizer spreader to the FIMCO 5301845 ATV Dry Material Spreader with 2.2 Cu Ft Polymer Hopper. It holds 145 lbs of seed, runs on a 12volt battery or accessory plug from the Polaris ranger. Can be easily mounted using the receiver hitch mount.
What makes this spreader great is the power of the spreader. It will broadcast up to 45ft wide so you can cover a food plot quickly without a lot of trips up and down the plot. The FIMCO Spreader is 5 times faster than our old spreader.

The First Buck To Take A Ride in My Polaris Ranger 570 Midsize
The Polaris Ranger 570 can be a versatile and practical vehicle for hunting purposes. Here are some ways you can utilize a Polaris Ranger 570 for hunting:
- Transportation: The Ranger 570 provides reliable off-road transportation to navigate through rugged terrain, allowing you to access hunting locations that may be challenging to reach by foot. It offers ample cargo space to carry hunting gear, equipment, and game.
- Game Retrieval: The Ranger 570 can be used to retrieve harvested game. My trailer hitch rack really comes in handy for deer size game. The bed is plenty large enough for deer, but at my age, I have trouble getting 200 lb deer up into the bed.
- Camouflage and Stealth: Customize your Polaris Ranger 570 with camouflage patterns or accessories to blend in with the natural surroundings and minimize your visibility to game animals. The gasoline version is a little loud, but I ease into my hunting area a little early to let things quiet down. I back it into pre cleared stand areas in then drape a camo net over the front up to cover everything below my folded windshield. Check your local laws before hunting from your Ranger.
- Spotting and Scouting: Pre-season scouting is much easier in the ranger. Cover a lot of ground, see the sign but no human scent left behind on grass or bushes.
- Equipment and Gear Hauling: The Ranger 570’s cargo bed or available accessory racks can be used to transport hunting equipment, such as tree stands, blinds, decoys, and camping gear. This allows you to easily bring necessary gear to your hunting spot. Again my hitch rack comes in handy when I carry a 55gal feeder on the rack and corn in the bed…one trip for everything.
- Game Processing: If your hunting trip involves field dressing and processing game on-site, the Ranger 570 can provide a convenient workspace. I use the winch to lift an animal for field dressing and skinning and store cut meat in an ice chest in the bed.
- Hunting Party Support: The Ranger 570 offers seating for multiple occupants, allowing you to transport hunting partners or hunting dogs. It is really nice for two people. Just throw your gear in the back and off you go in comfort.
- Night Hunting: With the addition of appropriate lighting accessories, such as RED LED light bars or spotlights, the Ranger 570 can extend your hunting opportunities into the night. We use it all the time for hog and coyote hunting.
Shopping For A Polaris Ranger
A few things that I learned while shopping for a Polaris Ranger. All dealers are not created equal. There are two things to consider when you are ready to buy a Ranger. Good, Friendly service and extra handling fees on top of the dealer prices.
At some dealers, like the dealer I bought mine from, they charge retail price and transportation with no hidden fees, but those dealers are hard to find. Most dealers add fees like destination charge, commodity surcharge, logistics surcharge, financial compensation and adjustment fees, assembly fees and the list goes on.
If you have plenty of cash look for the best service, but if not shop several dealers because the prices vary significantly. Another thing to consider is that for a few more dollars, you can buy a full size Ranger 570 for just a little more money. The price difference may be less than you think.
Some dealer won’t even give you a demo ride. The first ride or no ride in any UTV can be deal breakers. That demo ride lets you feel the comfort of the new seats, the feel of the steering wheel and suspension, a smooth or jerky ride. It gives you an idea of the turning radius, the power of the 44 hp 467 cc engine, the feel of the hydraulic disc brakes, and other features. If a dealer says no demo ride, shop elsewhere.
Polaris Ranger 570 Midsize – Lessons Learned
When shopping for a ranger, you will always be asking yourself which Ranger will best meet my needs. At the end of the year you may have the option of choosing a current or outgoing model previous models.
There are so many models and options available. You have the standard Ranger Midsize 500 and 570, mid-size Ranger crew 4-seater, the new Polaris Ranger SP, a full-size Ranger 570, the Ranger Midsize Premium model and many other considerations.
The 2-seat Ranger 570 has a good suspension system, though it is lighter than the full-size models and you will notice that when carrying heavy loads. The mid-size is a great machine with plenty of power for it’s size. It is great for trail riding, tight turns, low speeds for trail riding, good fuel economy, and ride height is adequate for hunting and light utility work like I use it for. Overall, it does a great job. My Ranger does not have power steering but i think the new Ranger SP has added it on to the mid-side models.
There are some things you sacrifice if you opt for the Mid-size (lightweight rig) utility vehicle. The full cab and storage area of the bed are the most obvious, The 44 HP engine is not always enough nor does it have the extra cubic feet of bed space – there are key differences. The suspensions with 10 inches of travel is less than the full size. The 1000 cc Prostar engine is much stronger and maximum comfort comes with a full size machine. A mid-size machine can not do some things nearly as well and additional modifications will not make up the difference.
Some key decisions making and finding the right dealer before you buy will make your buying experience more enjoyable. I love my Polaris Ranger 570 mid-size and it fits right into my lifestyle and needs. I hope you do not wait too long like I did to buy a Ranger.

Overall the Polaris Ranger 570 midsize is an excellent vehicle for hunting. With its 570 engine, all-wheel drive system, impressive towing capacity, comfortable seating this vehicle is has met every challenge I have thrown at it.
