6.5 Grendel AR15 Magazines for hunting in the 5-round to 15-round capacity are sometimes hard to find, so here are a few sources for those mags.
They are a little different than standard 223/5.56 Nato caliber rifles. The basic difference is the follower to accommodate the larger diameter cartridge so it will feed reliably. I have actually used a standard NATO mag in my Grendel and it worked until it got to the last round. I have read that if you could find a source for 6.5 Grendel followers, you can convert a standard mag to function with 6.5 Grendel ammo.
After getting my new 6.5 Grendel from Palmetto State Armory, I had to find magazines and what I really wanted was the 15 round mags that were hard to find. A 10-round mag would be ok, but for hunting, I did not want a long 30 round mag. Since I did a lot of looking, I thought I would pass along some of the places that carry 6.5 Grendel magazines and best prices. Here is what I found.
One other little thing is that my 6.5 Grendel 10-round magazines really only hold 9 rounds, and my 15-round magazines only hold 14 rounds. I think all the AR15 magazine bodies are the same size with different followers. When the magazine is used for 6.5 Grendel instead of 5.56 NATO, fewer of the fatter rounds can loaded into the magazine body.
